Tucson Dragway Makes Changes So Arizona Racing Community Can Attend And Support
Dwight Downing's Celebration Of Life

After hearing that Dwight Downing’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 2nd, track owner Jim Hughes and the Tucson Dragway team felt that canceling Saturday's events would be in order. “Dwight was such an icon and big supporter of Arizona drag racing events, we want to show our respect and support for Dwight and the entire Downing family” says Hughes. That being said we have decided to revise the schedule for the Hangover Nationals. In hopes that more can attend Dwight's ceremony, we will not open the track for any racing on Saturday.

Join us for a test and tune on New Year's Eve, followed by a New Year's Eve party. The scheduled Saturday event will be moved to Friday so the racing community can attend Dwight's Celebration of Life.

Also, in honor of Dwight, All Mopar's will be admitted free of charge to the Friday test and tune session!

God speed Dwight!
Gone but never forgotten!

Below is the revised schedule!

How Does The Tournament Work?

There will be two time runs before eliminations begin. The top half of the best packages of round one continue into round two in the Pro Eliminator Bracket. The bottom half of the field, or non qualifiers can buy in for another tournament with the same format.  Buy in's after the first round only, this will be the Sportsman Consolation Bracket.

Since it’s a best package tournament no ladder will be needed. When your class is called, come make your time run and the best half will move onto the next round.

Winner and Runner-up payout in each tournament will be based upon the car count. (50% to the winner, 25% runner-up and 25% to year end points-fund)

The most important goal of this weekend is for the racing community to come out, get acquainted, enjoy themselves and have a good time.

Again, this is a best package tournament, you only have to be better than half of the cars left in competition. You are running against the entire field, not against an individual opponent.

Tree Options:

5 tenths full tree - welcome box, no box, super pro, pro, street, sportsman, top dragster, top sportsman, stock, super stock, comp eliminator, and trucks.

5 tenths pro tree - welcome super street and hot rod cars. You don’t have to run your index as your dial but you are more than welcome to do so.

4 tenths pro tree - welcome super gas, super comp, quick rod, super rod. You don’t have to run your index as your dial but you are more than welcome to do so.

Free entry compliments of Chuck Hawk's Automotive for the Warm-Up Tournament!

$500.00 on Friday to win!!!
